FIVE DAYS....

Well, in case you didn't know by now, Jen and I are getting married this Saturday July 4th. What a great way to celebrate our independence!!! Not so much independence but you understand what I'm saying. No matter how hard we have tried its just inevitable that this week is going to be a little chaotic. There is still a lot left to do- between all the projects Jen's dad is doing at the reception site (his backyard), the small jobs my parents have created for Alan and I, plus Jen and I are still trying to get our new home ready, so we've all been spread a little thin And then there's all the planning stuff too, but either way after Saturday we're gonna be hitched regardless.

We have however reserved all of our excursions for our cruise. We're gonna do a bunch of really fun stuff and both Jen and I are extremely excited and ready to play.

So, for those of you coming into town this weekend- weather looks good, church should be packed so please get there early, the Miller residence should be done, and as long as I don't hurt myself in the world's largest 10K that morning we'll see you there. Safe travels

Less than a month to go!

Only 29 days.... 4 more Saturdays.... 2 more paychecks.... 1 more oil change.... you get the idea ; )

All the last minute details are coming together nicely. Last Saturday was spent laying 5 1/2 pallets of Bermuda sod in Dad's backyard so the reception site will be nice and green on the 4th! All the services for the day are nailed down tight and the honeymoon is booked! And most importantly, Jake has his red bow tie so he's ready to Par-TAY!!

Just a reminder, if you're coming from out of town and haven't made hotel reservations yet, get 'er done! Can't wait to see everyone : )

47 days and counting....

Hello again! We're really getting down to the nitty gritty. Jen has been hard at work getting all the little things buttoned up. We still have a lot to do, but we're reaching the finish line (I hope).....We still have to polish some of the ceremony stuff and Jen and her posse are slowly finishing up all the center piece stuff....The reception site is really looking great, although I hear it's a little muddy over there at the moment....Jen had her shower this past Saturday, it sounds like it was a blast and we got a bunch of really good stuff, so Thank you to everyone....If you haven't done so already, please send in your response card soon. Remember postage went up, and we didn't realize it when we sent out the invites, so some of you will need to add some postage (sorry)....Some have had some issues logging into our registries--For Target use Jeanette Miller, for Belk use Jen Miller, and for Lowes use Kevin Dickinson....We are really looking forward to seeing everyone in July. As of now, the official weather report for that weekend is: It's gonna be very hot and unfathomably humind. Scattered showers around 4:00 everyday, chance of rain 40%.....

Happy May 1st

Welcome to our blog...it seems our traffic has picked up a little since we sent out our invitations, so now I feel obligated to update it more regularly. If this is your first visit to our little Web site, then check out the links on the left hand side of the page, you should be able to find quite a bit of information. Such as, two local hotels, three registries, and some other stuff. Jen is VERY busy these days, keeping us all safe from the "swine flu." Seriously, she's been working a ton, and doing a great job, and I'm very proud of her, rumor is she hooked Mr. Obama up with some good information for his press conference on Tuesday(now she's a Democrat j/k). If you have not sent in your reply card, please keep in mind that postage goes up again on May 11th, and the stamps on those envelopes do not include that increase (sorry)....Also, if your planning on coming in from out of town, make your reservations now because it is a holiday. We have rooms at Country Inns and Jameson Inn (see links), and keep your ears open about a Friday night gathering for all of our out of towners.

We watched a segment on TV last night about schools banning dodgeball and tag....REALLY????!!!

Invitations are out

So, after several trips to the post office Jen was finally able to get all of our invitations in the mail. Sure, it sounds simple, but evidently there were several setbacks during the process. So, hopefully everyone will get their invitation without any problem, and will return it quickly, so we'll know how many sparklers to buy. We wanted to get the invites out early, especially since our wedding is a major holiday, (Oops, I meant since it is on a major holiday). If you're coming in from out of town, make sure to book your room early. We have rooms booked at Country Inns in Newnan, (group name Dickinson/Miller) and have also secured a handful of rooms at The Jameson Inn. The group name at Jameson is Miller. I have added links to both Web sites to the left hand side of this site, so check them out. Both locations are here in Newnan, about five minutes from our house, ten minutes from the church, and the reception location.

We've also added links to our three registries (Target, Lowes, Belk).

Hotel Reservations

We have an important announcement to make regarding our reception: There will be food! Seriously, we have finally confirmed our caterer (Thx Mom). We're trying to create a fun reception that is a reflection of us and our families, and I think our choices so far have done that.

Also, we have arranged a block of rooms at a nearby hotel. It's at Country Inn here in Newnan. It's located approximately one mile from our house, 10 minutes from the church, and five or six minutes from the Miller residence, which is the location of our reception. Here is their Web site so ya'll can check out the pics and amenities: http://www.countryinns.com/newnanga
Here is the telephone number(770)304-8500, tell them you're with the Dickinson/Miller wedding. The regular rate is $110 per night, and the discounted rate is $75 plus tax. In addition, if we book all the rooms they'll let us use their meeting room for an informal get together on Friday night after our rehearsal. We thought that would be fun for y'all to meet everybody before the big day, so if you're traveling to Georgia from up north, then we'd like you to use this hotel, it's a great location. We've arranged for three nights at the reduced rate, but the folks at Country Inn indicated they would be very flexible about the number of nights, and of course if you wanted any upgrades.

If anyone has any questions please call Kevin @ 678-557-7022

Janurary 30th

We last updated the blog several weeks ago, and since then quite a bit has happened. For instance, we have a new president. More importantly however, things are starting to take form for our big day. There's a rumor going around that Jen has a dress. That's not a rumor, I actually got the call a couple of Saturdays ago. Jen's dad called me from the dress store to give me one last chance to "run." (I knew I should've let it go to voicemail.) We have also picked a florist and photographer. As soon as I find out who we chose I'll post their Web sites on our blog. We "officially" have our DJ. Evidently, the DJ was booked long before we were engaged. I also hear that Jen's dad has begun prelimanary planning for the reception. Jen and I have also started developing an idea of how things will work during our reception and fireworks extravaganza. Please stay tuned for updates. Also, we're going to post links to the hotel(s) that have agreed to block off some rooms for our out of town guests, make your reservations early. Lastly, GO STEELERS! WIN ONE FOR THE OTHER THUMB!!!!!

Yeah, Yeah, I'll update it....

So, Jen and I survived our first holiday season as an engaged couple. Santa came to visit and we both got to spend time with each other's family. I especially enjoyed the week after Christmas, (except the part where I lost my job)when my sister and her family visited from Pennsylvania.

The first month or so of being engaged is kind of intimidating. We were both so excited to start planning and preparing for our big day, except it took us about a month to figure out how and where to start. We couldn't figure out how to create a budget without knowing exactly how many guests we would have, also we couldn't determine how many guests to invite without knowing how much money we had. So we compromised....we decided to just put everything off until after Christmas!!

Now it's after Christmas, and while we are still ironing out the budget and cutting and dicing the guest list, we have made a few decisions and are making progress on a bunch more. Naturally I've already started focusing on the honeymoon! For several reasons of course. Looks like we're gonna go on a cruise. Neither one of us have ever been before, and we figure the more planning we can let other people do the better, especially after pulling off the wedding and reception. I'll let Jen get into more details about our plans for July 4th 2009....
